Living Map produces unique mapping solutions and information visualisation for cities and complex buildings. We use a diverse set of technologies, and the candidate will get to work on everything from cutting-edge navigation technology to geospatial data management. The business was created by the team responsible for the Legible London wayfinding project – a global standard in wayfinding design and city movement and awareness. The office is an open and collaborative multidisciplinary environment consisting of software engineers, cartographers and designers.

We’ve been operating a research and development unit for the past year, to design the architecture for an innovative indoor navigation system on mobile devices.

Successful candidates will be joining the company at an exciting stage in its evolution. Working on an innovative greenfield project to provide navigation to some of the world’s busiest public and private spaces.

What does the job involve?

The job will involve learning new skills, technologies and overall attention to detail and quality. You will need to learn a wide range of testing capabilities from whether a map displays as per design, the information is accurate to ensure that positioning systems are working using a range of web and application-based testing.

The ideal candidate for this role will be very inquisitive in trying to improve their understanding of the products. The candidate will also have a passion for technology and have a strong knowledge of using multiple websites and apps across a range of devices.

You will also be ready and willing to learn as the company is developing a lot of experimental and state-of-the-art technologies for its products. This is very important as Living Map currently are developing systems which are only available within the company, this will involve critical thinking into the best way to test these new technologies. Candidates also have the opportunity to get trained up in Selenium and other technologies to help support Automation Testing.

Essential skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to present outputs in a clear and unambiguous manner.
  • Organised, with strong analytical skills.
  • A curious, observant and intuitive explorer who has a keen interest in technology.
  • Self-driven and keen on self-improvement and learning.

Desired skills

  • Basic knowledge of the testing processes and best practices.
  • Have a general understanding of web and mobile technologies.
  • Have some experience in automation testing such as Selenium.
  • Have used tools like Atlassian suite (Jira), Testrail, Android Studio and Xcode.
