Press Release | Canary Wharf Group enhances visitor experience with Living Map’s advanced digital mapping technology

Canary Wharf Group, the landlord and operator of renowned London shopping destination Canary Wharf, has once again raised the bar in enhancing visitor engagement through its ongoing partnership with Living Map. The latest chapter in this successful alliance unveils a significant upgrade to the Living Map digital mapping and wayfinding platform, featuring a new user interface and the introduction of 11 cutting-edge totems strategically positioned throughout the iconic location.

A major milestone in this evolution is the deployment of Living Map's Kiosk product on these totems, boasting 22 screens, each all running the latest Living Map User Interface. This enhancement aims to refine user experience, enhance location awareness, and seamlessly guide visitors through the dynamic spaces of Canary Wharf.

Already in action, these totems are set to elevate the experience for visitors attending Canary Wharf's highly anticipated annual event, Winter Lights.

Key feature upgrades include enhanced search controls for seamless store location, blue-line wayfinding for intuitive navigation, dynamic QR code wayfinding for collaborative navigation, and accessibility controls for a user-friendly experience. The integration of external marketing content adds an engaging layer, providing visitors with valuable information and promotions during their exploration of Canary Wharf.

Phil Rae, Chief Technology Officer at Living Map, expressed confidence in the impact of these enhancements, stating, “We believe these upgrades will not only streamline navigation but will also add an interactive and engaging layer to the overall visitors' journey.”

Living Map has crafted an additional map specifically for Canary Wharf's Winter Lights. As the eighth edition unfolds, visitors can embark on a captivating journey through 13 temporary installations, alongside the ever-popular six permanent light artworks. From Westferry Circus ablaze with the flickering flames of Sign to the mesmerising Marbles at Wren Landing, Canary Wharf's Winter Lights promises moments of stimulation, beauty, and technical innovation.

Manuela Zwingmann Wood, Associate Director of Brand & Residential Marketing at Canary Wharf Group, affirms, "The Winter Lights festival is a celebration of art, technology, and the unique atmosphere at Canary Wharf. Our map aims to complement this experience, easily guiding visitors through the mesmerising installations."

Canary Wharf continues to set the standard for immersive shopping experiences by seamlessly blending innovation, art, and technology. This commitment is reinforced by Living Map’s advanced digital mapping and wayfinding technology, ensuring that every step within this iconic destination is guided with ease.

Beyond navigation, the Living Map platform™ is a data powerhouse, capturing insights into visitor behaviour and route popularity, boosting operational efficiency and revenue for clients. By extension, for Facilities Management and operational purposes, the same map can be configured to locate and find IoT tagged equipment and any range of fixed and mobile assets our clients might wish to define.
